I just saw the Reddit thread discussing Jeffrey's "visual debt" video.
Jesus Christ, where do they grow these people? What makes them believe their opinions are important enough to justify such rudeness? Why are they so closed-minded? Don't they have more positive things to be doing with their spare time?
@JeffreyWay, you have the patience of a saint. Well done for being so polite. And for what it's worth, I liked the video; I think there was nothing wrong with either the content or the presentation.
The reaction from (some of) the community seems shrill and self-righteous: "Won't somebody please THINK OF THE CHILDREN!"
I occasionally look at it for links to new projects/stuff (much like I use Hacker News) or to find documentaries I'd never come across myself (see /r/Documentaries) - but yeah, never read the comments ;-)
I guess the only up-side is that it makes twitter seem (marginally) more reasonable ;-)
Good advice. It feels like watching videos of car crashes, climbing falls, or other catastrophes -- like, OMG I should not be looking at this but I can't look away O_o
