They are called Highlight matched brace they are here Settings | Editor | General under Highlight on Caret Movement.

PHP Storm Editor Appearance
Does anyone know how to remove the grey line in the gutter of php storm that shows the scope of the current block of code selected.

I kinda like the rectangle around the matching brace but not the line, guess one cant exist without the other :P Thanks for the help :) @jove
