artisan should be in the root of your project. Just make sure you are in that folder when you run the command.

Hi, i'm new to both PHP and Laravel , I'm getting this error: "Could not open input file: artisan".
I accidently erased my previous XAMPP installation, I reckon it was installed there, yea? Thanks!
And BTW - this forum's UI/UX is just a tad off from BRILLIANT.

I found the problem to be part of the Xampp package being deleted, nothing to do with Laravel itself, thanks Snapey.

@Erez it is not part of Xampp at all. It is part of Laravel it's self and is in the root directory of the project. You can see that here: https://github.com/laravel/laravel/blob/master/artisan.
