I'm building a SPA do I need to do extra work for SEO?

I'm building a spa with laravel and vuejs, I've seen in some articles that optimizing a spa for SEO is tricky, So my question is should i do extra work for google bots to properly crawl my website ? I see these keywords a lot: SSR, Pre-Rendering, etc... , Isn't Googlebots smart enough to load content from javascript?
