Homestead and Vagrant box version

So i'm setting up homestead on a new machine of mine and i'm not keen on the new homestead version (3.0.1) I much prefer (2.0)

My question is the current homestead box version (0.4.0) compatible with the 2.0 version of homestead itself.

Nope. I'm having the issue where it's trying to run ==> default: php5-fpm: unrecognized service. The new homestead box is not provisioning php5 correctly and is expecting php7. Unfortunately, my current sites are not ready for php7 and I'm not trying to upgrade them at the moment. But I can't get homestead back up unless everything is the latest version.
