Hi all, im a newbie developer with about half year experience as an IT executive, which means laravel is just part of my jobscope. I also involve in some IT helpdesk, dev-ops thingy.
My question is how to plan my skill development, what should i learn next, what i shouldn't for a beginner. My aim is to become a full stack developer but i dont want to limit the possibility. Is data science/ AI these tech useful for a laravel developer? As a laravel developer, what should you learn to develop your skill/career?
In these community, i guess laravel is your major skillsets, will you guys learn other thing/tech? or how you guys develop your skill in a long term?
sorry if the question is confusing, so many new tech pops out everyday and a bit overwhelming for me to decide what should i learn next.
I know L8 has got some criticisms lately, mainly in regards to the UI package. I wanted to change gears and write something positive about L8.
L8 requires PHP 7.3. This is actually awesome - and heres why. PHP used to be in a bad state where tons of libraries and packages were https://essaywriter.fun/ still using ancient versions, which slowed down progress immensely.
When Laravel, the largest PHP framework, and one of the biggest web frameworks, forces people to use up-to-date versions of PHP, it forces everyone to embrace newer versions and is a great thing for the PHP ecosystem as a whole.
I used to work in a similar job at a helpdesk. I spend my time after work or in breaks to find ways to develop small tools to help my every day work. After a while people noticed, and I was allowed to do it between calls as well when it wasnt busy, as long the company owned to code I generated. I made several small tools like a website migration tool etc. in php. I spend my evenings watching laravel and learning jquery (that was still popular back then). After a while decided to get a job as a developer. I got an entry level position, and just soaked up every bit of knowledge I could from my codeveloper.
I spend most nights and weekends checking what is up and coming, and try to sharpen my skills further.
I would recommend starting with laravel + a javascript framework to get you started (react or vue are quite popular). Learning CSS is also quite valuable!
