php artisan migrate error

I have Laravel installed on a VPS. I connecting to it with my computer via SSH.

The "php artisan migrate" command returns this error:

Database name seems incorrect: You're using the default database name `laravel`. This database does not exist.

Edit the `.env` file and use the correct database name in the `DB_DATABASE` key.

I'm stuck on the php artisan migrate command. I've tried many things including clearing the cache. I also tried the database name of "laravel", since I thought that one could have already existed, but I guess not?

ALSO I need to change my profile icon, but I have no idea how it was generated.
