Laravel Evangelism

At my place of employment I am trying to overcome resistance to any framework that uses composer, including Laravel. I have valid arguments and workarounds for all the issues upper management stated. I now want the icing on the cake.

Where are there Laravel installations in a security constrained/heavily regulated company? Big bonus points if that company is a state-wide utility company.

@fishtail It’s impossible to say without knowing the arguments your place of employment has against frameworks using Composer; and if you’re having difficulty trying to convince management then I can’t really see “This person on the internet says…” holding much weight if they’re not taking into consideration your arguments in the first place.

It really shouldn't be a question of a framework, but what technology is a company using.

Laravel is php.

So who uses:

  • PHP
  • .net core
  • java / jakarta

Express scripts (very huge pharmaceutical) now uses Drupal, which is php.

I don't need help writing the arguments. They already use PHP, I have the arguments ready.

What I am looking for is a statement like: "Entergy Arkansas LLC, a nuclear power plant operator, uses Laravel," or even better: "The NSA uses Laravel".

@Fishtail Sorry, but being a UK-based web developer I don’t know what tech stacks US utility companies use.

I do, however, know that my employer, Pfizer, uses Laravel heavily, as it’s what I do day to day in my role. I think they’re a pretty big company.

@Fishtail These guys all use laravel.

Pfizer $47.6 billion (2021) Liberty Mutual Insurance $43.796 billion (2020) BBC $6.833 billion (2021)

All very high levels of security & there is many many more examples, if you dig around.
