Composer with out SSL/TLS

I am using the composer without SSL/TLS. Sometimes when I update packages I got this:

    Failed to download psr/clock from dist: curl error 77 while downloading https://api.github.com/repos/php-fig/clock/zipball/e41a24703d4560fd0acb709162f73b8adfc3aa0d: error setting certificate file: D:\laragon\etc\ssl\cacert.pem
    Now trying to download from source

What does it mean? What is the "source" it is trying to download from?

@anchan42 Well why are you trying to use Composer without SSL? SSL is to protect you.

@martinbean My company has a firewall and it messes with SSL cert.
