Check with carbon if credit card expration date is before this month

How do I check if the card expiration date, which has 4 digits, like 02/25 for February 2025, is before today's month?

I suggest let the payment gateway handle this, unless you are PCI certified. A payment gateway, i.e., like paypal or stripe will be pci certified. Carbon has the method isPast.
