(Mix) npm run dev fails

I have a complete fresh install of Laravel 5.4, no modifications, only ran composer install and npm install. However I get this error. Whats wrong?

I'm using VirtualBox Debian on Windows, the node_modules are located outside the shared folder, so I can install them in a native Linux way.
