Hi @jmaniatis. Replacing the default frontend framework is a quick task... This information is based on a fresh Laravel installation.

In your terminal, run

npm i materialize-css@next --save-dev

Open /package.json and remove the line that declares bootstrap as a dependency

"bootstrap": "^4.1.0",

Open /resources/sass/app.scss and replace

@import '~bootstrap/scss/bootstrap';

with

@import '~materialize-css/sass/materialize';

Open /resources/js/boostrap.js and remove this line

window.Popper = require('popper.js').default;

Then in the same file, replace

require('bootstrap');

with

require('materialize-css');

Run the following command in your terminal to synchronise your node_modules folder with your package.json file. It will remove the Bootstrap dependency and add Materialize.

npm install

At this stage, your frontend framework has been changed. Compile the assets by running the following command in your terminal

npm run dev

Let's scaffold the auth system. In your terminal, run

php artisan make:auth

Now all that is left to do, is update your templates to reflect the class names of the Materialize framework. You can test your success by running your dev server

php artisan serve

Click the login or register button and if you see a materialize form, you nailed it!
