For other Windows user that might be interested, there are a few changes that need to be done to the code if you're using the latest version of webpack together with Laravel 8.

If you get an error production not defined in Chrome dev tools a quick workaround is to stringify 'production' in the if statement like so

}

With the new version of webpack UglifyJSPlugin was removed and you have to switch to optimization.minimize and for production build just change it to true

optimization: {
        minimize: false
}

CommonChunksPlugin was removed from webpack and instead you have to use optimization.splitChunks

        splitChunks: {
            cacheGroups: {
                commons: {
                    name: 'vendor',
                    chunks: 'initial',
