I've been thinking and talking a lot about this recently.

A friend of mine—an advanced Python developer—once told me he learned everything through written resources like books. He said videos and tutorials had already "killed the book era," and now, AI is killing the video era.

In the near future, Laravel (or even PHP as a whole) might stop publishing traditional documentation. Instead, you'll be given a AI-prompt field and asked to describe what you want, and their AI bots will return the finished product. The need for a real coder starts to vanish.

With each new invention, application, or plugin, we've tried to simplify things for the end user. From a marketing perspective, expanding a product’s market often means changng the target audience. Right now, Laravel is a product used by thousands of developers. But in the future, their "buyer" will shift from "coder" to millions of "random person."

And we’ve already seen signs of it. Just a few years ago, you needed to be somewhat advanced to even install Laravel. Today, it’s gotten easier with every release. Soon, it will be so user-friendly that anyone can build a functional app.

Imagine going to the Laravel website and seeing a ChatGPT-like interface:

Make me an SPA to track invoices.
What models do you need besides User?
Supplier, Customer, Carrier.
Will you invoice over this app?
Yes, include also packing lists and proforma invoices.
Will you track financial data?
Yes. Balances, unpaid, due invoices.
Great. Your project is ready.
Looks good, but I prefer a sidebar instead of a header.
Updated. I also installed the LaraPal extension in your code editor.

...and so on.

I’ve been browsing the new W3Schools site. Honestly, I wonder if their only future readers will be AI crawlers.

It makes me p*ssed to hear people talk about “building apps” without having any coding knowledge at all.

I remember feeling the same way when Excel videos started popping up on YouTube. As an Excel enthusiast, I was the only one in my circle who could create anything. It felt like a suprepower. Of course, this is ultimately good for humanity—once there were horses, now there are cars. We don't cry for the horse industry. Maybe coders are next.

Laracasts might evolve into something like: “How to Customize Your Ready-to-Deploy App.” In a way, it already has. I sometimes revisit the old Laravel courses (v.6 or v.8)—back then, users had to do everything manually. The first few lessons were just environment setup: editing .zshrc, configuring paths, crossing fingers... Now? One-click setups, dashboard ready, starter kits loaded, auth solved.

Maybe one day we'll be visiting Laracasts for:

“Apply 2028 Design Trends to Your AI-Built App,”

“How to Talk to Laravel AI,”

“Best PHP Prompt Templates for Your Next Big Idea.”

Sad. I hope Laracasts will evolve something over the barrier. I see lots of improvements. I want to believe Laracasts will run faster than AI.
