TY for the course Jeffrey! I had started haphazardly working on WordPress before deciding to take this course to learn properly.

According to the WP coding standards page, the short-hand tags are not supposed to be used. I realize this course is primarily for folks working in the Laravel ecosystem, but I was wondering if you had any insight on why it shouldn't be used or if there is a down-side?

I tried looking at the PHP docs and it doesn't say much other than show you how to disable it. Is the reason just that it may be disabled in a given environment and lead to errors?
