Very strongly recommend defining the server block in your vite.config.js file, with, at a minimum the server.hmr.host otherwise by default the @vite helper spits out [::] as the host, which doesn't necessarily work everywhere.

I wasted an hour of 2 available hours to pair with my colleague with VS Code today because of this. Port was shared with him, and he could access stylesheets & js if he manually visited localhost:3000/resources/css/app.css or whatever the route was, but the ipv6 format stuff vite was spitting out by default would not work at all.

Seems to me that it should probably default to localhost or 127.0.0.1, not [::] .. I know I know, it's 2022, people ought to be using IPV6 by now but the reality is not everyone is, and in the case of VS Code live share -- clearly ipv6 doesn't work at all on shared ports.

So.. tldr, include this in your vite.config.js file:

     },

The server.host value of 0.0.0.0 allows the vite server to listen on all IPs rather than only on localhost, could be useful if running elsewhere on your network, or maybe in a docker container, etc. the hmr value ensures the blade helper spits out localhost instead of [::] for the vite resources.
