my route looks like this in Laravel:

Route::post('/logout', function () { return 'logging the user out'; });

And the Inertia link:

<Link href="/logout" method="post" > Logout</Link>

in response I get a 500 error and the logging the user out' message. the Laravel logs do not record an error message.

I set up my Laravel 12 project using the Vue starter kit and the script tag has to be <script lang="ts" setup> and the imports import { Head, Link } from '@inertiajs/vue3';

the built in AI on this page suggests that the inertia form helper will fix this issue ... but that's some episodes ahead as yet...

there have been many problems following this series due to all the changes to Laravel and inertia since the series was authored - but I will persevere and the extra difficulties are possibly educational

Some other commenters above say that the method="post" attribute is no longer needed . I disagree , I find that it is needed otherwise the request is sent as a GET request with a response Status 405 Method Not Allowed
