Why Add New Relic 0:00Alright guys, so at this point, everything's going good. In fact, I think this is going to be the next huge app. So because it's going to get so much traffic, I want to set up New Relic support. This way I can monitor everything from JavaScript performance to how long overall it takes a page to load, to the error rate, meaning, for example, if something goes wrong in my application and too many errors are being thrown, New Relic will automatically email me a notification so that I can get on that right away. So New Relic can give you a massive amount of insight, but this is a little less a lesson on New Relic and more on how easy it is to set up New Relic with Laravel Forge. So here you can see that I've created a free account. Installing via Forge 0:35on New Relic and more on how easy it is to set up New Relic with Laravel Forge. So here you can see that I've created a free account. You can visit newrelic.com and do the same in about 30 seconds. So now if we go back to Laravel Forge and we go to my main server here, you'll see that we have a monitoring tab. So notice that adding New Relic support is literally as easy as pasting in your license key. Let's do that together. Let's reveal my license. By the way, notice that I have specified that PHP will be my main language.Let's reveal my license. By the way, notice that I have specified that PHP will be my main language. So here's my license key. Let's go back, paste it in, install New Relic, and now we're done, believe it or not. If we now switch back and go to applications, there we go. After just a few seconds, our app is ready to monitor. So like I said, this isn't really a lesson on how to use New Relic. I'll let you hunt around and figure some of that out for yourself. Alright so what I've done is, behind the scenes, I paused the video for about 10 minutes to pull in some more data. Reviewing Monitoring Data 1:32Alright so what I've done is, behind the scenes, I paused the video for about 10 minutes to pull in some more data. Here we can see that the pages are loading in about a fifth of a second, which is incredibly fast. But if you ever need to dig in further, of course you can do that. Also you can review any errors that might be thrown, your AJAX requests. We can dig into the application. So for example, we can look at any database queries. So when you visit this page, you can take a look at which queries are the hardest on the system. Using Query Insights 1:57So when you visit this page, you can take a look at which queries are the hardest on the system. And maybe you might be able to either tweak those queries, or maybe do some caching to keep yourself from needing to hit that database each time to perform that query. In this case though, like I said, we just have a dummy app, so we're not going to get too much out of this. But for real world projects, you absolutely would. Alright so that does it for this lesson. You now know that you can hook up your application to New Relic using Laravel Forge in literally 30 seconds.
