Damn, this takes me back to 2006-2008! The only real use for this approach is if you are developing a small app or supporting an old app like github or,

You are a one or two-man (developers) band
You are happy to stuff frontend junk in your backend code and ship that over the wire asynchronously.

I don't think there is nothing wrong with the above, but I don't think you will find many apps following this approach today.

Decoupling frontend and backend logic is so core to most apps today and that means, sending data over the wire (not HTML) and letting frontend logic present that data. It's light, it's easy to change, it's cleaner and most important you can let backend and frontend developers do what they do best!
