Commented on Turbo Boost With Factories

To me Laravel 8 is such a blast as Jeff is building exactly what I'm looking for. Being a newbie it's difficult to follow the logic and he is setting the bar very high. But that's good. I know chapter wise what to read along in the documentation afterwards.

I thought the same and that's why I start Laravel at all with this 8 series. It's my starting point. To me there is no sense in watching something 'old', I would just get confused. It's nevertheless kind of hard to keep with Jeff's pace (vs code vs lots of automation in php storm, like use \App\Models....inclusion. .... you have to watch really carefully to not miss anything. I'm coding in the evenings after work and sports, 8pm - 10pm and don't get no more of 2 clean chapters. means, everything works so far :)

Commented on 3 Ways To Mitigate Mass Assignment Vulnerabilities

While following I thought I got it but when we reach the end of this chapter I suddenly don't know what to do. What is best practice for a newbie like me? I'm building my blog following Jeff by each chapter and the only one posting / creating a blog post will be me. So I assume the right one is fillable with the properties (name, excerpt, ....)? What is best practive for other forms, like contact/message, comment....?

I'm confused...

Commented on Find A Composer Package For Post Metadata

I just get an empty array, respectively nothing back from Yaml

web.php

Route::get('/', function () {
    $document = YamlFrontMatter::parseFile(
        resource_path('posts/my-fourth-post.html')
) ;

    ddd($document);

    // return view('posts', [
    //     'posts' => Post::all()
    // ]);
});

my-fourth-post.html

---
title: My fourth Post
excerpt: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.
date: 2021-05-21
---

<p>

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur adipisicing elit. Quis optio possimus accusantium ut natus velit
labore esse voluptatum aspernatur eaque. Minima perspiciatis asperiores necessitatibus iusto. Pariatur ut
voluptatum nemo alias. Lor

</p>

but what I get back from ddd is just:

Spatie\YamlFrontMatter\Document {#282 ▼
  #matter: []
  #body: """

I just don't see what's wrong with it?

Everything is as Jeff did

filepath is .../resources/posts/my-fourth-post.html

Replied to Doubts About Stack (Breeze, Bootstrap, Vue, ....)

Got you, and went through the series section again. Since there is nothing about Bootstrap and since it's recommended to start with Breeze which uses Tailwind, I have cleared my doubts. And since I purchased the Laracast Liftetime membership I will go with what the series offers. So same for VUEjs, but I already knew to go with that.

Started a new Conversation Doubts About Stack (Breeze, Bootstrap, Vue, ....)

Hello Community,

I'm new to Laravel so thanks in advance for your patience to my questions ;)

I started reading and installing according to the documention, just playing around a bit. As far as I understand it right it's recommended not to use Laravel UI anymore. Since I'm a beginner, it's recommended to get started with Breeze. (But) Breeze comes with Tailwind CSS and basic Authentification, right? So here's my first doubt.

I do have some experience with Bootstrap and would like to keep with that. Or in other words, the stack I'm aiming for is

  • Laravel (obviously ;)
  • Bootstrap 5
  • VUEjs
  • adding later Packages, like ....?

I don't need the whole Authentification circle in the beginning. I would add that in the future, in case. Is there a package for it? Is Sanctum the right one?

I'm asking because everytime I search the documentation I get the warning that I'm reading some 'outdated' information and should upgrade to Laravel 8.

So, shall I install Laravel 8 and seperately install Bootstrap and Vue? And how would I later add the authentification?

Thanks! Thomas
