rodriguesbruno left a reply on API Route, Middleware And FormRequest

We'll this is pretty weird since I have used your code on my local environment and having the ->middleware worked fine. Anyway, I'm happy that you solved it!

rodriguesbruno left a reply on API Route, Middleware And FormRequest

Have you tried using a plain Illuminate\Http\Request instead of your custom Request as parameter for the handle method in the middleware class?

I am not sure if you should be using custom requests there...

rodriguesbruno left a reply on Laravel Custom Rule Dependent On Other Request Params

Hi @martinbean, I believe you overlooked this part of the question (or it is not clear enough :P)

"I've written an automated test forcing volume to be a string and now HasEnoughFunds tries to multiply "string" and price, throwing a 500 from my api."

Unfortunately, the solution you provided won't work when volume is a string as aaa. the HasEnoughFunds rules depends on volume. That's the root of the evil here :(

rodriguesbruno started a new conversation Laravel Custom Rule Dependent On Other Request Params

Hey there,

Preface

I discovered the bail rule today but it does not solves my current issue:

I have two parameters that are validated in a Request class: price and volume.

price needs to be a number, volume needs to be an integer.

'price' => ['bail', 'required', 'numeric', 'min:0', 'not_in:0', new HasEnoughFunds],
'volume' => ['bail', 'required', 'integer', 'min:1', new HasEnoughUnitsToSell],

the problem I am facing is that I am using both price and volume inside HasEnoughFunds.

I've written an automated test forcing volume to be a string and now HasEnoughFunds tries to multiply "string" and price, throwing a 500 from my api.

Question

Is there any native way to bail a rule based on another?

Is this specific case, I would bail the whole validation whenever volume is not an integer...
