Replied to GetTableColumns Suddenly Auto-sorted?

@kornacho I never found out what caused this, but it seems to be an issue on just one of my installs. I am actually afraid it will start appearing on another install - considering there seems to be no explanation/prediction of why it happens?

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it out.

Replied to GetTableColumns Suddenly Auto-sorted?

This within the model/class file itself so that output is direct from the getColumnListing function.

I am using laravel 5.4 , it worked fine before, but all of a sudden started autosorting.

Started a new Conversation GetTableColumns Suddenly Auto-sorted?

Hi, I am having a problem that suddenly appeared. When I do a gettablecolumns through

$this->getConnection()->getSchemaBuilder()->getColumnListing($this->getTable());

Previously that correctly returned the array of column names as per the column order, e.g.

array:92 [ 0 => "id" 1 => "name" 2 => "desc" 3 => "token" 4 => "user_id" 5 => "portal" 6 => "uid" 7 => "created_by" 8 => "created_at" 9 => "updated_at"

Suddenly it starts to return the array in Alphabetical order e.g.

array:92 [ 0 => "ach" 1 => "AESSCORE" 2 => "AGRSCORE" 3 => "ALTSCORE" 4 => "ANXSCORE" 5 => "authority" 6 => "ben" 7 => "car" 8 => "Careful" 9 => "caring" 10 => "change"

I can't for the life of me figure out why it would auto sort the array values, as I have not upgraded Laravel?

Does anyone know what is going on? Could it be due to the php installation?

Replied to Create Databases In Utf8 Instead Of Latin1

I'm using Laravel 5.5 and the make:database command creates a new database.

I am aware of the table charset , but this has to be specified for every single table. It's also not database-wide.

Started a new Conversation Create Databases In Utf8 Instead Of Latin1

Hi there,

My config.php database settings are correct in specifying 'charset' => 'utf8mb4', 'collation' => 'utf8mb4_unicode_ci',

However, every time I run php artisan make:database dbname mysql

It creates the database as latin1_swedish_ci

Is there any way to set ALL new databases created as utf8? Why is latin1 the default still?

Replied to Averages For Each Column In Collection Of Items

@BOBBYBOUWMANN - Thank you Bobby

I suppose something like avg($array) is not possible? Interesting as it seems like that shouldnt be so hard to "condense" columns in Laravel. Should be a native feature.

Replied to Averages For Each Column In Collection Of Items

@BOBBYBOUWMANN - Thanks for that, I have tried avg but have 40 over columns, and was looking for a way to not have to type them all out and add to a new array. Is that possible?

Started a new Conversation Averages For Each Column In Collection Of Items

Hi,

This just seems to be relatively straightforward, but unfortunately I cannot find a simple solution.

With this collection of items/users, I want to just get to a single aggregated result that has the averages of each column across all users.

user colA colB colC colD

1 5 6 7 5

2 5 6 7 5

3 5 6 7 5

4 5 6 7 5

5 5 6 7 5

Desired result that has the average of all the columns across all users

5 6 7 5

At the moment I have to loop through each column to calculate the average score of all users (using avg), but surely there must be a less intensive way to just get the average for each column across all users?

Hope that someone can help with this issue.

Thanks so much!
