Replied to CSS For Backend Devs: Episode 7: Can't Get Tailwind Hooked Up

Thanks JohnBraun, that definitely put me on the right track. I am getting (most) of the styling that Jeffrey is getting in the lesson. I don't understand how he is getting sans-serif. He has a class of font-serif on his body tag, but is getting sans. I am getting serif on mine, following along. My build appears successful--I can go into the tailwind.css file that was generated and change something and see the effect.

I was getting the shadow effect, but that has disappeared, although the shadow class is still on the div for the card.

I still get lots of squawking ("Problems") from VS Code...still the "Unknown rule at @tailwind" messages, although that my just be ignorable, since the tailwind stuff is getting in.

I realize now that Jeffrey is doing this in the context of .php, while I am simply working with .html. I don't know if this means he has other things that I can't see that could be in play here affecting styles or not...

Replied to CSS For Backend Devs: Episode 7: Can't Get Tailwind Hooked Up

Thanks for your reply, nolros. I should have stated at the the beginning that I am not using Laravel or PHP--I am here for the content on CSS, Vue, Git, SQL.

Started a new conversation CSS For Backend Devs: Episode 7: Can't Get Tailwind Hooked Up

In the video JW has:

@tailwind preflight;

@tailwind components;

@tailwind utilities;

in his app.css file which pulls in tailwind. He explains that he is not using a cdn and I see no hint of anything tailwind related in his html. I am not getting any styling from tailwind this way and am getting "Unknown at rule @tailwind" complaints in VS Code. I tried the method suggested at tailwindcss docs...npm install tailwindcss and then the code similar to above (exchange @tailwind base for @tailwind preflight). But still nothing.

I guess I could cdn it in but I am (obviously) very new to this stuff and trying to learn how to do it right.

Googling suggests there have been issues with VS Code versions not recognizing @tailwind directives but it looks like maybe that had been resolved, but maybe new issues?

Commented on Practical Component Exercise #3: Tabs

Yeah, I am going to have to watch this one a few times....

I understand very basically what lifecycle hooks are, but knowing when I need to utilize them, and which one--like Jeffrey does here--is gonna take some time.

Replied to Bulma Modal Box Background-color Issue

That did it, thx Snapey! The box class styling is done by Bulma. But threw in inline style .box{ z-index: 1} and it worked.

Started a new conversation Bulma Modal Box Background-color Issue

Pardon my beginner-ness. I doing the Bulma modal lesson (learn-vue-2-step-by-step episode 10) and the modal box is supposed to have a white background that appears "on top of" the opaque grey modal background. I have the opaque grey covering everything, with the box and the rest of its styling visible through the opacity. If I use dev tools I can see the .box {background-color: white} is there (not crossed out) and when I manipulate the attribute to different colors I can see them changing "behind" the opaque grey. Any ideas?

Commented on What Git Add Actually Does

Pardon my beginner question, but from the comments at the very end of this lesson it seems that--working locally and without pushing to github or similar-- that I should know how to revert back to a particular committed version. I don't seem to recall that. I imagine that it will be discussed in upcoming videos, but I don't like to feel that I have missed something important. Have I?
