jimmitjoo left a reply on Double Requests On Every Pageload

Thanks for the tip on network tab. I was requesting an image from the wrong path, and since first level sub-pages that does no longer exists is redirected to the frontpage this was happening for this image url as well.

Thanks again! :)

jimmitjoo started a new conversation Double Requests On Every Pageload

I just noticed something weird in my application. When I was about to implement pageview tracking into my own sourcecode, I noticed that I am getting a double request every single time. It happens so fast that you do not even notice on the pageload. (So this is not happening i Google Analytics, probably because JS has not been executed that quick)

For example I hit page.com/test, then I get 1 request with the correct path and a unique request fingerprint, but I do also get another request to the root path of the site with another request fingerprint.

Googled a bit and saw some folks that had used double $next's in their middleware, but that is not my issue. My issue is still unknown.

I am out of ideas of what this can be. I do the "tracking" in my blade template files, if that can give someone any idea?

jimmitjoo started a new conversation AWS Region Stockholm

I am trying to create a new server in region Stockholm on AWS. I have no problem doing that in Frankfurt, however, as a swede Stockholm is a more logical region.

I tried do it in Virginia as well but that did not work. And I created new credentials to see if that was the problem, but since IAM-credentials are global this should not be he issue, right?

Anyone else with the same problem?

@NORDINZAIDI - Basically it means you'll need to register your packages in the config/app.php the "old way".

As I understand it vue native just compiles to react native.

jimmitjoo started a new conversation Setting Up Auto-scaling With Envoyer Or Forge

Have you managed to set up auto-scaling on AWS with Envoyer or Forge?

I am about to launch a service that is going to need to scale up as CPU increases when there are many users doing heavy tasks, however, how do I manage to deploy to multiple servers when the machines might often change their IP's? When I for example create an AMI we might have one version of the application, but it has to be updated when we make a new launch. Having a hard time getting my head around this.

How do you handle this? Any good articles on the subject?

jimmitjoo left a reply on AWS EC2 Server Disappear After Provisioning

I guess it was a misunderstanding of VPC from me. When I choose "Create New" instead of using the default one forge seems to get access to the server it created and the provisioning went just fine.

jimmitjoo left a reply on AWS EC2 Server Disappear After Provisioning

I gave it a new try with the same result today. It is removed from forge when the "building" is done. But the server is up and running in EC2 so I guess there are no errors on Amazons side.

How do you do when setting up an EC2? I'm using my Access Key ID and the Secret Access Key, obv it is working enough to create the server, but not to keep it in forge?

jimmitjoo started a new conversation AWS EC2 Server Disappear After Provisioning

As my title says, when I am provisioning a new EC2 server through forge it is created and I can access it in my AWS EC2 panel, however the server is no longer listed under servers in Laravel Forge.

Does anyone know what my issue may be?

jimmitjoo left a reply on Manage Versioning In An Api.

I would still probably go that way tho.

But if you don't want that, this is a pretty hacky, but potential, solution?

    $app = app();
    $controller = $app->make('\App\Http\Controllers\'.$version.'\UsersController');
    return $controller->callAction('index', $parameters = []);

@click yes it is still there when the initial deployment succeeds. If the initial deployment fails everything is swapped from the directory.

jimmitjoo left a reply on Problem Installing New Repo On Servers

When I removed the "php artisan package:discover" from the post-autoload-dump in composer.json the deployment succeeded.

jimmitjoo left a reply on Problem Installing New Repo On Servers

@click I do it through the forge web interface, and that will place it in the root of the project as standard.

jimmitjoo left a reply on Problem Installing New Repo On Servers

@click if I add the .env and then trying to install the repo the .env is cleared afterwards, and I get the error message above. Forge is probably clearing everything from that folder on the server when error occurs on install.

jimmitjoo left a reply on Problem Installing New Repo On Servers

@click @pardeepkumar I cannot do anything of that since the website is not installed on forge. This is on first installation.

@ronmaxweb it is the original AppServiceProvider, only thing in there is Config::load() in the boot method. It is almost just a fresh installation of Laravel.

jimmitjoo started a new conversation Problem Installing New Repo On Servers

Hi! I am working at an agency where we have used forge for a couple of years now. Today when I am back from my vacation forge does not work at all. I can not install a new website through my git repo. Seems to be some problem with the package discovery and then it says it has no connection to the database. And it should not have since I haven't created the .env file before setting up the website.

Below is the full log I get when trying to deploy a new website.

jimmitjoo left a reply on OrderByRaw Is Removing Results In Union Query

This is really interesting! When I instead moved and used it as a custom column in the results everything is working. Is this possibly a bug in Laravels orderByRaw?

When I removed the orderByRaw and instead used it in a selectRaw that looked like this, it works as expected! Why is it different at all?

$metaCompetitions = DB::table('meta_competitions')
            ->select('meta_competitions.name as name', 'sports.name as sport', 'meta_competitions.id', 'meta_competitions.country')
            ->selectRaw('CASE

                    WHEN meta_competitions.name LIKE ? THEN 2
                    WHEN meta_competitions.name LIKE ? THEN 4
                    ELSE 3
                  END AS order_col', [$string, "$string%", "%$string"] )
            ->selectRaw("'meta_competition' AS type")
            ->where('meta_competitions.name', 'LIKE', "%{$string}%")
            ->whereIn('meta_competitions.sport_id', [1, 3, 4, 9])

jimmitjoo started a new conversation OrderByRaw Is Removing Results In Union Query

I am running this query in a project where I am having "meta_competitions" and "primary_events" that is going to merge together into a result where they do not overlap by primary_event_meta_competitions having the primary_event_id of the current primary_event.

Everything is working as exprected in the query itself, we are getting the results we want. But when we add the orderByRaw() everything except one result is removed of the meta_competitions.

            ->select('meta_competitions.name as name', 'sports.name as sport', 'meta_competitions.id', 'meta_competitions.country')
            ->where('meta_competitions.name', 'LIKE', "%{$string}%")

            ->join('sports', 'sports.id', '=', 'meta_competitions.sport_id');

        $leagues = DB::table('primary_events')

            ->whereIn('primary_events.sport_id', [1, 3, 4, 9])
            ->whereNull('primary_event_meta_competitions.primary_event_id')
            ->leftJoin('primary_event_meta_competitions', 'primary_event_meta_competitions.primary_event_id', '=', 'primary_events.id')
            ->leftJoin('sports', 'sports.id', '=', 'primary_events.sport_id')

            ->union($metaCompetitions)

jimmitjoo started a new conversation Change Collation Not Working? Am I Doing Something Wrong Or Is This A Bug?

We are trying to change collation on a table, and the migration are returning green so we thought everything worked. Except nothing happened in the database.

Schema::table('teams', function (Blueprint $table) {
    $table->string('name')->charset('utf8mb4')->collation('utf8mb4_swedish_ci')->change();
});

This does however work.

DB::statement("ALTER TABLE `teams` CHANGE COLUMN `name` `name` VARCHAR(191) CHARACTER SET 'utf8mb4' COLLATE 'utf8mb4_swedish_ci' NOT NULL ;");

Any ideas?

jimmitjoo started a new conversation Laravel Valet [DomainException] Unable To Determine Linked PHP

I am having a wierd issue. A week ago when I was working on this machine everything with Laravel Valet worked like a charm. Today I cannot even start it.

I've tried to reinstall both Valet, PHP, nginx and dnsmasq. I have tried to switch between PHP versions as well, but no. I just get the DomainException described in the title.

which valet
/usr/local/bin/valet

which php
/usr/bin/php

php -v
PHP 7.1.8 (cli) (built: Aug  7 2017 15:02:45) ( NTS )
Copyright (c) 1997-2017 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v3.1.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2017 Zend Technologies

Everything above seems ok to me?

But then when I want to install valet:

valet install

Stopping nginx....
Installing nginx configuration...
Installing nginx directory...
Updating PHP configuration...
  [DomainException]
  Unable to determine linked PHP.
install

Have anyone else experienced this issue? I cannot find anything valet specific about it when googling, just found a lot of people having this trouble with homebrew.

jimmitjoo started a new conversation Two Similar Relationships On The Same Model

Hi!

I have a model called Event, which can be a soccer, tennis or formula1 event. When it for example is a soccer event I'd like to attach 2 teams to this event, one hometeam and one awayteam.

I am not sure how I should structure this. Have tried it out with belongsToMany relationship that references the Team model, event_teams table, the event_id and team_id in the table. But how would this relationship know if it is the home or awayteam?

I need some guidance. Big thanks in advance!

Sorry guys, I meant this as feedback, not as a threat. Just got annoyed over why I could not watch the videos. Figured out it must be the ads, tried adblock, and it solved the issue. Whatever Jeffrey gonna do with the information, I'll have to use adblock (altho I am not a supporter of it) until this issue is solved otherwise I cannot watch the screencasts.

jimmitjoo started a new conversation Ads Make Site Slow

As it is right now the site isn't usable without adblock. It is some ad that is loading a ton and then the video gets laggy and plays maybe 5s per minute.

With adblock everything works fine.

Btw, is it meant to display ads for logged in paying members?

Hi!

I am about to use prerender.io on my website which is a SPA built on Vue and Laravel. By default vue seems to use hash (domain.com/#/page) instead of hashbang (domain.com/#!/page) which seems to be what prerender is requiring.

I have googled a ton on "Change hash to hashbang vue 2" and stuff, but I can not find any help. Does anyone here know where I can tweak vue to use hashbang?

Thanks in advance!

jimmitjoo started a new conversation Search On Pace Of A Run

Hi! I am about to build an application for us who runs a lot and want to find friends on the same level to train together with.

But to do this I would really need to be able to search on runners who are running in about the same pace as me.

The problem I have is that I have stored the kilometer pace like 3:35 (min:sec). How would you go about to make it searchable to for example find a run that are within 10 sec from this. I want to find runs that are at max pace 3:25 and minimum pace 3:45/km. And then if you are running in 4:59 pace we would like to search for 4:49 and 5:09.

Do you think it is better to just store seconds per kilometer so that 3:35 is transformed to 215?

Would like to have some suggestions on how to think about this problem.

This is pseudocode of what I would like:

Run::where('pace', '<', '3:35 + 10 seconds')->where('pace', '>', '3:35 - 10 seconds')->get();

jimmitjoo started a new conversation Laravel Choose Wrong Table For Auth

I have changed my users table name to 'bostad_members' (bostad_ is a prefix), it works with registration, login with socialite and such. BUT, when I try to register a new user it tries to add the user to the old table 'bostad_users' which now is containing something else.

My config/auth.php is changed to 'members', as well as the protected $table in User.php.

I get 2 errors in the log:

"[2016-09-07 11:02:13] production.ERROR: PDOException: SQLSTATE[42S22]: Column not found: 1054 Unknown column 'email' in 'where clause' in /var/www/mysite.com/vendor/laravel/framework/src/Illuminate/Database/Connection.php:319"

Why is this happening? Can't find out where I should change anything else?

Yes, you will win big time in the long run if you use a framework. There are a ton of them out there, Angular has quite a high step to get into in my opinion tho. I have started to like to use backbone instead. But no matter what framework you choose, you will most likely benefit from it.

I surely didn't change anything in there. I just uncommented the gzip-stuff that was commented out in /etc/nginx/nginx.conf. Nothing that should break this I think?

jimmitjoo started a new conversation Session Problems On Forge

Ok, I can start by saying that I am not great on this server config stuff. I have had the social logins working with sessions and all that before, but then I edited the config file because I wanted to gzip the content that was sent to the browser. Now I am getting this.

ErrorException (E_UNKNOWN) open(/var/lib/php5/sess_2fde40503711502d2a6fe148dfcee783, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13)

Open: /home/forge/default/vendor/lusitanian/oauth/src/OAuth/Common/Storage/Session.php

public function __construct( $startSession = true, $sessionVariableName = 'lusitanian_oauth_token', $stateVariableName = 'lusitanian_oauth_state' ) { if ($startSession && !isset($_SESSION)) { session_start(); }

session_start(); has red background in the error. I am not sure what the reason is for this error? Have anybody else got the same thing? It started happening after I added gzip to the config, but even if I remove it it won't go back to working for some reason.

Worth to note is that the usual email + password login works fine. But not this OAuth stuff.

Using Laravel 4.2.

Please help me out :)
