Started a new Conversation Eloquent, Group By Relationship.

Hi

My data.

Projects -> (has many) Tasks -> (has many) SubTasks

I am looking to display all of the SubTasks in order of the SubTask 'due_date' column, grouped by the project they belong to.

The page would then display something like this:

Project B
	Task 2
		Sub Task One (due 1st Sep)
		Sub Task Three (due 2nd Sep)
	Task 1
		Sub Task Two (due 3rd Sep)

Project A
	Task 1
		Sub Task Two (due 4th Sep)

Project B <---- repeated
	Task C
		Sub Task 2 (due 5th Sep)

Project A  <-- repeated
	Task 1 <-- repeated
		Sub Task 1 (due 6th Sep)

Any ideas?? Completly stumped. I have got this far:

$subtasks = SubTask::with(['task.project' => function ($query) {
            $query->groupBy('id');
       }])->orderBy('due_date')->get();

Which retrieves the data but I need to go 2 steps further grouping them by Tasks and then by Project.

Thanks in advace!

Started a new Conversation Matchmaking Service. Comparing 2 Pivot Tables.

Hi.

I am creating a matchmaking service on my website.

I have 5 tables: Buyers, Sellers, Categories, buyer_categories(Pivot), seller_categories(Pivot).

Users will be creating an account as a BUYER, selecting 5 categories they are looking to buy in. The data of what categories they have selected will be stored in the buyer_categories table with: id,buyer_id,category_id.

Users will be creating an account as a SELLER, selecting 5 categories they are looking to sell in. The data of what categories they have selected will be stored in the seller_categories table with: id,seller_id,category_id.

What I need is a way of displaying pulling the data so that it shows you matched buyers/sellers that have selected the same categories as you. Matching buyers to sellers and vice versa.

What makes it more tricky as the way it needs to be displayed is ranked by those who match the most categories as you have.... as I want to display it like this.

"These buyers have matched 5 of your selected categories" ... ... ... ... "These buyers have matched 4 of your selected categories" ... ... ... "These buyers have matched 3 of your selected categories"

Any advice or ideas?

Thanks

Started a new Conversation How To Host An Lumen API Back End

Hi All

I am creating my first REST API with Lumen, to use as a backend for a VUE.JS application.

I was wondering what the general consensus is with hosting an api. E.G

If my front end domain is myapp.com would I host my api on a different server and use a subdomain such as api.myapp.com. Or should I separate the backend completely and run it from myappapi.com ?

At the moment, I only have experience in Laravel, which both the front end and backend are once application sitting on the same server.

Any advice for a novice would be appreciated.

Thanks

M
