Started a new Conversation Beginner: What Is The Best Way To Get Data From Multiple Tables Without Duplication

Hi,

I am fairly (few days old) in the world of Laravel, so I need some guidance as I do not quite understand the how to use the model and Controllers quite yet.

I want to start out by building a form which is consists of some input field and a couple of dropdown selects. The dropdown I want to populate with data from my database.

I can create a single dropdown using the view and a controller, which works. But the method I apply will cost in a lot of code duplication - I think using a model will help me out, but I don't know how.

My controller looks like this, I want to loop though all my exercise look-up tables and pass them on to my view so I can do some dropdown:

---- Controller ----- namespace App\Http\Controllers;

use DB; use App\create_exerciseModel;

use Illuminate\Http\Request;

class exerciseController extends Controller {

public function show() {
  // $exercise_lookup_tables = ['lookup_exercise_equipment','lookup_exercise_training_type','lookup_muscle_group_0','lookup_exercise_unit'];
  $equipment = create_exerciseModel::get();
  // view('LINK TO RESOURCE VIEW', DATA TO SEND));
  // dd($equipment);
  return view( 'view_exercise', ['equipment' => $equipment]);
}

}

My model looks like this: ------ Model ------ namespace App;

use Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Model;

class create_exerciseModel extends Model { protected $table = 'lookup_exercise_equipment'; }

Started a new Conversation Valet Not Working - Opening A Google When Using .test

Hi, I am new to Laravel and PHP in general. I just completed the intro-videos on Laravel 6, and having issues with Valet.

I previously had MAMP/MAMP PRO installed, but its not uninstalled as I followed the instructions and installed PHP and MySQL via Homebrew as per instruction video.

I also installed Valet, and followed the instructions, but for some reason it is not working. When I enter my projects name "bngaard.test" it redirects to a google search instead of opening the splash screen.

I checked valet path which is: /Users/christoffer/bngaard <-- This is this the correct folder for project /Users/christoffer/code <-- this is created following the video instruction

None of it is working - any ideas as to what is wrong?
