Started a new Conversation Noobie Help For Async Function In JS

I have a quick and very dirty microservice in node/express that receives a json post request, and loops over each key value pair. Each value from the k,v pair is sent to an async function (puppeteer) for processing (generate PDF). Once processing is complete, i merge the PDFs and return it in the response to my calling application.

The issue is my for of loop fires off each iteration without waiting for a response from my async puppeeter function, so it exits the loop and tries to merge my PDFs when they havent even been created yet. I thought by adding .then to and await to my printPDF function it would be forced to stop and wait for a response but doesnt work as intended.

How can i make my printPDF function await a response before proceeding?

Also, not using laravel for this as it was an inherited project.

app.post('/test',function(req,res){

   var body = req.body;
   let files = [];

   async function printPDF(urlWithParams, fileName) {
      const browser = await puppeteer.launch({ headless: true });
      const page =  await browser.newPage();
     await page.goto(urlWithParams, {waitUntil: 'networkidle0'}).catch( e => {
      console.log(e);
      browser.close();
      });

      if(fileName == 'invoice.pdf'){
       pdf =  await page.pdf({ path: fileName, format: 'A4',  printBackground: true });
      } else {
        pdf = await page.pdf({ path: fileName, format: 'Ledger',  printBackground: true });

      }
     await browser.close();
     return await pdf;
    }

    for(const [key, value] of Object.entries(body)){
      var urlWithParams = value;
      var fileName = key + '.pdf';
      await printPDF(urlWithParams, fileName).then((result) => {
          if(result){
            files.push(fileName);
          }
       })
   }

   pdfMerge(files, {output: 'merge.pdf'}).then((buffer) => {
      console.log(buffer);
    });

     res.end("yes");

   });
