RexT left a reply on CSV Download Page Error

I fixed this by using exit; instead of die();

no idea why thats different :-/

RexT started a new conversation CSV Download Page Error

Hello!

I have a CSV download using League's CSV.

If I output the CSV and die:

$csv->output('report.csv');
die();

Then the download works, but I get a "site can't be reached" error.

If I remove the die(), then I still get the error but no download.

Is there a way to serve the CSV output without it looking like an error?

Thanks!

RexT left a reply on Password Reset Link Printing Domain Twice

Adding this to the User model fixed it...

 public function sendPasswordResetNotification($token)
  {
    $this->notify(new \App\Notifications\Auth\ResetPassword($token));
  }

there was also a slight difference in my ResetPassword file, so I just copied the code from Illuminate\Auth\Notifications (basically the same but doesn't require the user model in the constructor)

Thanks N3, you got me on the right track

RexT left a reply on Password Reset Link Printing Domain Twice

thanks! I've added the file but I'm still getting the old link, is there a setting I need to change to find the new file or should it find it automatically?

RexT started a new conversation Password Reset Link Printing Domain Twice

In my L5.6 app, when I click the reset password reset link I get sent an email with the link in it, but it reads:

https://dev.example.com/https://dev.example.com/password/reset/lsknlnflsnlenf...

the domain url is printed twice :-/

I have the APP_URL set in the env, but I can't figure out why the domain is added twice

RexT left a reply on Restful Child Resources

thanks @tykus and @martinbean! that actually makes a lot more sense now

RexT started a new conversation Restful Child Resources

I'm making my app more restful and trying to go full resource with it, and I keep coming up against the same problem, which is that resources that belong to something don't seem to fit the pattern very well.

For example, I have lots of groups, so I have a have a groupmember resource. Group members always belong to a group, so when I use the groupmember.index route, I always need to display them by group id. Trouble is the index method hates receiving a param. I can hack it by sending a query string, or override it with a separate route declaration, but it doesn't feel right.

Also, when I edit groupmembers, I display a list of group members, which the admin can kick or give permissions to. But should the edit page of a resource show a list? this doesn't seem very restful

I feel like this is something people do every day and I'm missing the obvious or not getting the concept of restful right

Let me know your thoughts on practises for restful child resources

RexT left a reply on Recipient Variables In Mailables?

I am now, I've worked around it by using a mailgun package instead of using mailables

RexT left a reply on Recipient Variables In Mailables?

the recipients vars are from the local db. When you send an api call to mailgun with recipient vars, mailgun listens for them and then automatically batch sends the mail, using the vars to personalise each one.

Using mailgun, and the Laravel Mail class, how do I pass recipient variables to mailables so I can do: "Hi %recipient.name% ..."

Thanks!

RexT left a reply on Fresh 5.5 Auth Install Not Working

found the error - the site is https, but the routes generated were http

adding: $this->app['request']->server->set('HTTPS', true); to the AppServiceProvider fixed it

(found on a stackoverflow here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/24426423/laravel-generate-secure-https-url-from-route)

RexT left a reply on Fresh 5.5 Auth Install Not Working

yeah, I used the laravel installer so it generated one automatically

RexT started a new conversation Fresh 5.5 Auth Install Not Working

Hello! I've just got a fresh 5.5 installed, and run artisan make:auth

When i fill in the register form, the page just reloads the register page with the form fields blank

I haven't touched any of the boiler plate, and there's no error message so can't figure out where i've gone wrong

The connection to the database is ok and the users table is there

RexT left a reply on Disk Space Is Full, But Shouldn't Be

ok, I ran a tail on that DOROOT file and its full of errors like this one:

2016/10/10 09:25:59 [error] 2720#2720 *296439469 connect() to unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock failed (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) while connecting to upstream, client: 217.160.133.121, server: default, request: "GET http://www.netmon.es/moodle/login/index.php", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock:", host: "www.netmon.esmoddleloginindex.php"

I have no idea what those sites are (malicious?) or whats going on in this error, anyone know?

RexT left a reply on Disk Space Is Full, But Shouldn't Be

checked the logs, not much seems to be going on there, but I found that the folder: /dev/disk/by-label/DOROOT is taking up 99% of the disk space. Anyone have any idea what that is?

RexT started a new conversation Disk Space Is Full, But Shouldn't Be

Hello, my forge server has two laravel instances on it. they are the same site, one staging, one production. They are very basic sites, no database, just a few pages. Somehow the full 20Gb in my server has been used up, to the point where I cant write files without getting a disk space full message

I'm thinking about restarting the server, but worried if I do, it will crash on restart
