MiguelStevens left a reply on Conditions In Scopes?

The situation is more complex, I just simplified it, It has to return limit(0), when there's children found, It can't have any results.. I don't know how to otherwise do this in Laravel

MiguelStevens started a new conversation Conditions In Scopes?

I want to create a function where I limit a query, if the model that I'm querying has a relation (children in this case).

Is a scope the place to do this? Is it possible?

Pseudo-Code:

public function scopeLimitWhenChildren($query) {
    $count = $query->children()->count()
    if ($count) return $query->limit(1);
}

MiguelStevens started a new conversation What Does 'fillAttributeFromRequest' Do In Laravel Nova?

I'm using Laravel Nova, and I'm building a custom resource tool, I use the fillAttributeFromRequest to transform some data before saving it in the database, but I'm not really sure what this method does?

Does it allow us to transform data before showing it in a detail view for example?

MiguelStevens started a new conversation Laravel Nova Resource, Where Can I Overwrite The Default Save Behaviour?

I'm building a nova resource tool, and I'm wondering where I can change incoming data before it get's POST'ed to the Resource?

MiguelStevens started a new conversation How Do You Handle Slug-based Routing, But Translatable Entities That Have An Empty Slug At First? Which Breaks..

I'm using slug-based routing, like this

myapp.com/posts/first-post

I have a Post entity, and a PostTranslation entity, When I create a Post entity, 2 PostTranslation entities are being created (for each language), and they have an empty slug and title field, so the user can choose this. The issue is that when I want to browse to this post, and the user didn't set a slug yet, it will break. How would you handle this?

MiguelStevens started a new conversation Nova Translating Strings In Custom Tool

I created a Tool in Nova, Now I would like to localise it so the strings I use in my Vue files can be multilanguage. Is this possible?

  • I see an en.json file in the resources/lang/vendor/nova folder, but I would like to add my own translations in my package..
  • Does loadTranslationsFrom in my Tool's ServiceProvider, also loads the .json files?

I'm getting the following error after a fresh install of Laravel Telescope, (Nova is already installed, if that might be of relevance).

MiguelStevens started a new conversation Laravel Nova, No Hint Path Defined For [menu]

I'm making a Tool for Laravel Nova, upon having some composer issue's, I removed the vendor folder, ran composer install again but now I'm bumping into the following error..

No hint path defined for [menu]. (View: /Users/miguel/Code/@modules/laravel-menu/vendor/laravel/nova/resources/views/layout.blade.php) (View: /Users/miguel/Code/@modules/laravel-menu/vendor/laravel/nova/resources/views/layout.blade.php)

I've tried

Removing the vendor folder and running composer install and composer update again, Publishing the nova assets again using

php artisan nova:publish

Has anyone ever came across this issue?

MiguelStevens started a new conversation Usage With Postman

I'm trying to test the API routes of a Tool I'm building, when trying to do a PUT request using Nova, I'm getting the login screen as a result. Any idea if I can get passed this?

I already tried to return $next($request) from the Authorize.php in my Tool, but that's not helping.

MiguelStevens started a new conversation Using A Select Dropdown In Custom Tool?

I created a custom tool, all is working, but I'm stuck on how to use elements from Nova.. I have an empty vue file now, and I would like to put a select-box there.

In the documentation this is called <form-select-field>, if I add that component, it's asking for an attribute, but how do I pass those to my Vue file?

MiguelStevens left a reply on Is This A Good Way To Include The Previous And Next Record?

We're talking about showing next and previous models, not next and previous pages.. I hope that's clear from the question?

MiguelStevens started a new conversation Is This A Good Way To Include The Previous And Next Record?

I'm wondering if my method of including the next and previous records, are according to good (OOP/Laravel) standards.

In my Model class, I include the following methods

class PortfolioItem extends Model
{

    public function getPreviousRecord()
    {
        return PortfolioItem::where('id', '<', $this->id)->first();
    }

    public function getNextRecord()
    {
        return PortfolioItem::where('id', '>', $this->id)->first();
    }
}

Then I check in my view if the returned result is not null, and render those items.

@if($portfolioItem->getPreviousRecord())
    <div>
        <a class="d-block" href="{{ route('portfolio.show', $portfolioItem->getPreviousRecord()->id) }}">
            Vorig Werk
        </a>
        <h5 class="d-none d-md-block">{{ $portfolioItem->getPreviousRecord()->title }}</h5>
    </div>
@endif
