Replied to Issues With Google Fonts And Sass Compile.

That's what I'll do then. Thanks again for your help flightsimmer668.

Replied to Issues With Google Fonts And Sass Compile.

Thanks again flightsimmer668 ...I'm not actually sure laravel mix maybe? Sorry, this stuff is all new to me.

Here is my webpack.mix.js file:

const mix = require('laravel-mix');
mix.js('resources/js/app.js', 'public/js')
    .sass('resources/sass/app.scss', 'public/css');

Replied to Issues With Google Fonts And Sass Compile.

So I started a fresh Laravel project and just changed the font and I still get the weirdly formatted app.css when I compile.

@import url(https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Open+Sans:[email protected];

700&display=swap);@charset "UTF-8";

Here are the commands I used to install. Serving on a virtual machine with ubuntu server running apache2.

composer create-project laravel/laravel quickstart --prefer-dist
composer require laravel/ui
php artisan ui bootsrap
npm install && npm run dev

Any thoughts?

Replied to Issues With Google Fonts And Sass Compile.

Thank you Flightsimmer668 for your help on this. I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, it does not. I'm going to try a new laravel project from scratch and see if I can find any differences and maybe it's a problem of how I set it up.

I removed the comments and moved the @import to the bottom. But it still gives that unquoted URL with the @charset.

I'm not running npm run watch. I've cleared the view:cache, cache:clear and the view:clear. But still getting the weird whitespace in app.css

I do not need it. But I'm not inserting it. It shows up after it compiles.

You are right I am using the welcome.blade.php. I did not notice that and I did remove them.

If I manually correct app.css from:

@import url(https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Open+Sans:[email protected];
700&display=swap);@charset "UTF-8";

To this (just correcting the whitespace):

@import url(https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Open+Sans:[email protected];700&display=swap);
@charset "UTF-8";

Then Open sans renders correctly.

Shouldn't the url be quoted?

Nunito does render when I put that line back in the app.scss. So does that mean I need to escape some of the characters in the open sans url?

My variables.scss looks like this:

// Body
$body-bg: #f8fafc;

// Typography
$font-family-sans-serif: 'Open Sans', sans-serif;
$font-size-base: 0.9rem;
$line-height-base: 1.6;

// Colors
$blue: #3490dc;
$indigo: #6574cd;
$purple: #9561e2;
$pink: #f66d9b;
$red: #e3342f;
$orange: #f6993f;
$yellow: #ffed4a;
$green: #38c172;
$teal: #4dc0b5;
$cyan: #6cb2eb;

I'm not sure where the bootstrap file is.

Started a new Conversation Issues With Google Fonts And Sass Compile.

I'm trying to learn Laravel and I've run into an issue that I can't seem to figure out with Google Fonts and Sass.

I'm trying to load my font on app.scss with:

// Fonts
@import url('https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Open+Sans:[email protected];700&display=swap');

// Variables
@import 'variables';

// Bootstrap
@import '~bootstrap/scss/bootstrap';

But it compiles to app.css as:

@import url(https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Open+Sans:[email protected];
700&display=swap);@charset "UTF-8";

If I manually correct app.css it works. But how do I get Sass or Laravel to compile it properly?
