Replied to 3 Table Pivot Example

The trick is, to declare the relations inside the Pivot-Class:

class DegreeStudent extends Pivot
{
    public function consultant()
    {
        return $this->belongsTo('App\Consultant'); // this is the relation to consultant
    }
}

Replied to Can't Connect With MariaDB And Laradock

After Googling for a while, I found this:

try adding this key to your .env

MARIADB_DB_HOST=mariadb

not sure, if it helps, but worth a try!

Replied to Can't Connect With MariaDB And Laradock

@bobbybouwmann do you really need to take care of PMA_DB_ENGINE or only if you really use phpMyAdmin ?

@punksolid to narrow down the error, you could try to ssh into your mariadb-box with docker-compose exec mariadb bash and check from the console, if the database is working.

Replied to Upload Files From 3 Different File Fields

Are the files really uploadad? Check your browsers-developer-tools, if there are any errors.

Most common errors with file-uploads are:

  • files are too big --> check upload_max_filesize, memory_limit and post_max_size in php.ini

  • files need to long to upload --> check max_execution_time and max_input_time in php.ini

also check the settings of your webserver - for example nginx see here: https://www.nginx.com/resources/wiki/modules/upload/

Replied to Can't Connect With MariaDB And Laradock

is your mariadb-box up and running? (check with docker ps or docker-compose ps)

did you start your docker-environment correctly: docker-compose up -d nginx mariadb ?

Replied to How To Join Request On 2 Fields With OR Condition?

you could use orWhere() instead of where() in your scope, or you could use whereBetween() :

$storageSpaceCollection= StorageSpace
	...
	->whereBetween('check_in_date', [$report_date_from, $report_date_till])
	->whereBetween('check_out_date', [$report_date_from, $report_date_till])
	...
	->get();

Replied to Capture And Handle 404s Where A .php File Is Specified

you can't configure this in the .yaml-file directly.

There are two possibilities:

1.) after you created your vagrant-box (normally with homestead up) you ssh into your box (with homestead ssh) navigate to /etc/nginx/sites-available/ and change the config file there. (That's for nginx - not sure, where the apache-files are exactly, but they should also be somewhere in /etc/apache or similar)

But this needs to be done everytime you destroy and recreate your box !!!

2.) you can change the provisioning-script in your homestead installation, so this is set up automatically when you create your box. For nginx you need to adjust the file homestead/scripts/site-types/laravel.sh and for apache the file is named homestead/scripts/site-types/apache.sh

Replied to Capture And Handle 404s Where A .php File Is Specified

This is a setting in the webservers config.

For example in nginx: error_page 404 /redirect_script_for_missing_files.php;

For example in Apache: ErrorDocument 404 /redirect_script_for_missing_files.php

this leads all 404 errors to the specified script, where you can handle the 404 behaviour

Started a new Conversation Laradock Not Writing Error.log

I am trying to get Laradock to work on my Windows 10 machine. I set up LaraDock exactly like it is documented on their website, but I still got some problems:

I keep getting an 500 Server Error but there is no output in the error-log. From the config, the errors should be reported into /logs/nginx/laravel_error.log This file exists, but it is empty.

Additional info:

  • log_errors is set to on in php.ini
  • the access.log is written normally - in there I can see the 500 error.

What do I have to do, to get the error.log working?

Replied to Does Someone Know How To Configure PhpStorm With The New L7 Blade Tags?

you can configure custom blade-directives in PHP-Storm like so:

  • go to settings -> Language & Frameworks -> PHP -> Blade

  • uncheck the "Use default settings" checkbox

  • click on Directives

  • with the "+" at the right, you can add new directives

But I guess that the new blade-tags will be in the default Blade-plugin sooner or later, so it depends, if you want to add them manually to PHP-Storm or just wait some time.

Replied to Sharing Data With Multiple Views With Request Querys

yes, you could create a small form with hidden fields,

but: why does it have to be POST ??

In your function, you only want to show a page - you don't do anything else (like saving some data in the database) - therefor the GET method would be correct, and with passing the ID in the URL (either as route-parameter, or in the querystring) you pass the parameters as GET.

Replied to Sharing Data With Multiple Views With Request Querys

return view(‘car-pre-info’, [‘car’ => $car]);
return view(‘car-info’);

can you see the difference? You will need something like [‘car’ => $car]your car-info-view as well, to determine, for wich car the info should be displayed.

I would suggest to have parameters within the route like this:

Route::post('car/{car}/public-ad', 'Api\[email protected]');

and then in the Controller something like this:

public function info (Car $car)
{
    return view('car-info', ['car' => $car]);

Do I see this correct? Do you have your password within " " in your .env ?

Is there maybe some information in the logfiles in /storage/logs ?

Replied to Laravel 6 No Error Displayed On Server While Sending Email, But Mail Not Sent To User.

you could temporarily activate the display of errors by adjusting your .env-file on the server:

APP_ENV=local
APP_DEBUG=true

Replied to How To Handle Many Policies In A Sizeable Project

There is an open source package from Spatie: https://github.com/spatie/laravel-permission

I haven't tried this myself, but it might be worth checking.

There are also other packages dealing with user-permissions. Check this: https://packalyst.com/s/permission
