Jamesst20 started a new conversation Kahlan V4 Setup For Laravel 5.8

Hi,

I would love to test my current application with the Kahlan testing framework : https://github.com/kahlan/kahlan I love its syntax which looks familiar to Jasmine and RSpec.

However, laravel-kahlan (https://github.com/jarektkaczyk/laravel-kahlan) is no longer maintened and is currently completely broken in Kahlan v4.

I am currently having hard time figuring out how to set it up in order to have my database migrated and cleaned between my tests while having the "Laravel Application" running.

I was wondering if anyone has a setup example somewhere.

Thank you

@TOMOPONGRAC - Thank you so much ! Can't believe it was that simple :) !

Jamesst20 started a new conversation Laravel 5.7 : Unable To Test Patch/Put/Delete Routes

Hi,

I currently have this in my routes/web.php :

Route::middleware(['auth'])->group(function () {
    Route::resource('timesheets', 'TimesheetController');
    /* ... */
});
Auth::routes();

and have the following feature test :

    function test_guests_cant_access_actions()
    {
        $timesheet = factory(Timesheet::class)->make();

        $this->get(route('timesheets.index'))
            ->assertRedirect('/login');
        $this->get(route('timesheets.create'))
            ->assertRedirect('/login');
        $this->post(route('timesheets.store'))
            ->assertRedirect('/login');
        $this->patch(route('timesheets.update', [$timesheet]))
            ->assertRedirect('/login'); // Line 29
        $this->delete(route('timesheets.destroy', [$timesheet]))
            ->assertRedirect('/login');
    }

Sadly, I am getting this error

1) Tests\Feature\Controllers\TimesheetControllerTest::test_guests_cant_access_actions
Response status code [405] is not a redirect status code.
Failed asserting that false is true.

Which means the route is not responding to my request method.

I am unable to explain it. Would anyone be able to help me understand what i'm doing wrong ?

Thank you

Jamesst20 started a new conversation Laravel 5.7 : Clean Way To Apply Policy Scope Based On User Role

Hi,

I was wondering if there was anything built in Laravel to apply scope to Eloquent model based on user role.

Let's say there is a CRUD BookController.

An admin has the right to view and edit all books. An author has only the right to view and edit his own books

It means for each action there is a scope that has to be applied somewhat like that

if (Auth::user()->isAdmin()) {
  return scope;
else {
  return scope->where(['author_id' => Auth::user()->id]);
}

What is the right why to do that?

Thank you

@BOBBYBOUWMANN - Thank you ! I wasn't aware of this ! :)

Jamesst20 started a new conversation Laravel 5.7 : Cleanest Way To Generate Nested Urls In Views

I currently have nested routes.

Let's say I have

Route::resource('a', 'AController');
Route::resource('a.b', 'BController');
Route::resource('a.b.c', 'CController');

In my views, is there a better way to generate URL than doing :

route('a.b.c.show', ['a'=>$aId, 'b'=>$bId, 'c'=>$cId])

It's getting a little annoying for nested urls. Why can't we just pass an Eloquent model instance? Like route('a.b.c.show', $cInstance)

Thank you
