I don't Windows, but you can specify which shell your VSCode intergrated shell uses.
In your User Settings, find
// The path of the shell that the terminal uses on Windows. When using shells shipped with Windows (cmd, PowerShell or Bash on Ubuntu). "terminal.integrated.shell.windows": "cmd.exe",
and replace the
cmd.exe with the Git Bash binary (check the path is correct for your machine):
"terminal.integrated.shell.windows": "C:\Program Files\Git\bin\bash.exe"
Whenever I used Homestead, I edited locally.
If that doesn't suit you, there is this: https://codepen.io/ginfuru/post/remote-editing-files-with-ssh but I have no opinion whatsoever about that. ;)
