i have a huge project in my hands,but the problem is that the website is built in codeigniter and i have no clue of that framework and also i have read everywhere that laravel is way way better, it is like negative progress to go back to codeigniter.plus i have very busy schedule to go and learn something new.shall i be going back to codeigniter or not??is it worth the time???and how different it is?what kind of problems will i face?kindly help me with this confusion.

It's not going to hurt to go through the documentation you will find it is really really easy to catch on to codeigineter. And you have the best sample in the world an already built application.

Codeigniter is basically easy to learn therefore I would stick with that and just slowly migrate it to laravel.

@jlrdw that is what the guy giving me the work is asking me to do,they will migrate it later to laravel.so shall i invest my time in learning the basics of codeigniter??
