xopher left a reply on Adding A Step Before Registration

@GRENADECX - I didn't need to copy the routes to accomplish this. I created a new middleware as you suggested where I check for the session variable. The first time a user attempts to Register the middleware redirects to the form where values are checked, the session variable is set, and they are redirected to the registration page at which point the session variable is present so the user continues on via return $next($request); The middleware was added to the the /app/Http/Controllers/Auth/RegisterController.php constructor as follows:

    {
        $this->middleware(['guest','check']);
    }```

I actually have looked through the documentation, and had already found the RegisterController. I was expecting to find an index method that I could add a check to but alas it only has validator and create methods. With no /register/index or /register route, and no index method in the RegisterController I'm at a loss for where to look.

xopher started a new conversation Adding A Step Before Registration

I'd like to require new users to enter two values (that will be checked in db) prior to allowing registration. I've poked around, but am new to Laravel and find the Auth routes to be fairly opaque. The Controllers and Views are all naturally present and obvious in terms of how to edit, but the routes/web files simply says Auth::routes(); which I suspect is handled internally somewhere to move users through the registration, login, and password reset process. I would like to add a session variable check to the register flow and if not found redirect to a separate page where the values would be checked, session variable set, and then redirect to normal Registration page. I apologize if this has been asked before, I'm still searching for something similar.
