Replied to Multiple Many-to-many Relation In One Function

Thank you for this suggestion, but it does not solve my problem. Suppose there are three items related: A, B, C with ids in this order. Then searching for related items of A, we really get B and C using only relatedItems1() function, but in case B we will get only C as related items and in case C no related items will be resulted.

Started a new Conversation Multiple Many-to-many Relation In One Function

Hi,

I would like to link items in a database via pivot table.

The pivot table (called ItemshasItems) is very simple, it contains itemId1 and itemsId2 that means items with iteimId1 and itemId2 are connected (they are somehow related).

In a simple case in the model of item, the many-to-many relations can be defined as:

function relatedItems() { return $this->belongsToMany('App\Models\Items','ItemsHasItems','itemId1','itemId2'); }

However, in this case the connection between item1 and item2 can be stored in ItemsHasItems table as itemId1,itemId2 or itemId2,ItemId1 (we store each pair only once, as the number of pairs is very large (>100 millions).

Now I use two functions to define relations: relatedItems1() and relatedItems2() in which itemId1 and itemId2 are reversed.

My question is, how can I unified the two function into one.

Thank you the help of this community in advance. Elek
