Replied to Why I Got A Lot Of Fake Users In My Production App?

Hi @andyabihaidar thanks for your answer.

I'm sure I don't have seeder running on my live app. Seeder can only be running on development. Besides that, the name field of users is all in a random string like this: 6051c0915eb53. The Faker library that I use in my seeder will generate a more realistic name instead.

But I agree that it seems that my form is poorly secured. And one solution that I know is to install recaptcha.

Do you have any other suggestions to make my form more secure?

Started a new Conversation Why I Got A Lot Of Fake Users In My Production App?

I have my Laravel app live on production. But when I check users table I got more than 30 fake users. I assume those users as fake users because I see the name field only contains a random string and email_verified_at is also NULL.

Why I got a lot of fake users on my production app? How can I prevent that such thing?

I read some posts to install reCaptcha. But maybe someone here knows the best solution to solve this problem.

Thanks.

Replied to Does Socialite Package Isn't Good For Production

Hi @snapey

Can you explain why you'll never use Socialite on a B2B application but will not use on B2C application?

Replied to Does Socialite Package Isn't Good For Production

Hi @martinbean

Thanks for your comment.

Laracast is my reference for website that I'm building. I just wonder why Laracast not implement social authentication feature.

I'm worried if I implemented that feature on my website I got some unexpected things or other risk that I don't want.

Started a new Conversation Does Socialite Package Isn't Good For Production

I have a plan to implement social authentication in my application with the Socialite package. But I now doubt since I see Laracast or Forge are not implement it in their websites.

Does the Socialite package isn't good for production? Are there any other factors that should be considered when implementing social authentication on our website?

Replied to Connect Laravel To Remote Database Got Connection Timed Out Error

Hi @fideloper

You're right. I made mistake in setting the DB_HOST. It seems that I set it with IP address of my webserver, not my database server.

Started a new Conversation Connect Laravel To Remote Database Got Connection Timed Out Error

I deployed my Laravel app in one server and connect to MySQL database in another server. Both server has private ip address. When I run my Laravel app I always get error like this:

SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Connection timed out (SQL: select * from information
    _schema.tables where table_schema = mydb and table_name = migrations a
    nd table_type = 'BASE TABLE')

I have clear all cache but it still not work. I've also tested to connect to mysql server using simple php with same database settings and it working just fine:

<?php
$servername = "DB-IP-ADDRESS";
$username = "DB-USERNAME";
$password = 'DB-PASSWORD';

try {
    $conn = new PDO("mysql:host=$servername;dbname=mydb", $username, $password, [
        PDO::MYSQL_ATTR_SSL_CA => "path-to-certificate",
        PDO::MYSQL_ATTR_SSL_VERIFY_SERVER_CERT => false
    ]);

    $conn->setAttribute(PDO::ATTR_ERRMODE, PDO::ERRMODE_EXCEPTION);
    echo "Connected successfully";
    $q = $conn->prepare("select * from users");
    $q->execute();
    $res = $q->fetchAll();
    var_dump($res);
} catch(PDOException $e) {
  echo "Connection failed: " . $e->getMessage();
}

?>

Please help me solve this problem.
