Replied to Service Provider For Library With Runtime Vars Added To Constructor

yeah only one CLIENT_ID/SECRET

just to be clear - are you suggesting reading all of these configuration settings from the database in the service provider?

We would still need a way of refreshing the token where necessary which I guess could be done in a piece of middleware.

Replied to Service Provider For Library With Runtime Vars Added To Constructor

  1. It may, or may not be set. A new user would not have an access token. I guess it will always be in storage once set, and the refresh would occur based on this.

  2. There's a property for access token expiry, this is fairly shortlived, a few hours I think.

In terms of actual storage it's likely this will be within a User record.

Started a new Conversation Service Provider For Library With Runtime Vars Added To Constructor

Hey,

I'm using a library which contains a mix of keys and runtime specific configuration, which is all added to the constructor as below.

    public function register()
    {
        $this->app->bind(Library::class, function () {
            return new Library([
                    'client_id' => env('CLIENT_ID'),
                    'client_secret' => env('CLIENT_SECRET'),
                    'access_key'  => '',
                    'refresh_key'  => '',
                    'access_token_expiry'  => '',
                ]
            );
        });

The access token can sometimes come from storage, but will need to be checked for expiry and optionally refreshed. How would this best be approached with Laravel without losing the benefits of DI? I could achieve this by doing something like this, which I guess could be in a factory.

$instance = App::make( Library::class,  [ 'access_token' => $access_token]  );

Just wondering if there's an approach within Laravel i'm not aware of as I've not used it for a long time.

Cheers.
