Commented on Intro To Laravel Sanctum

Out of curiosity are you using localhost? Taylor mentioned in the early days that there were issues with using localhost and cookies.

Replied to AirLock Route Protecting Issue

What error message do you get when you send a GET request to /api/users?

Your first post contained an error for the login route. Your follow-up post showed a POST route to login and an error message that looks very much like you sent a GET request to /api/login

Replied to Invoices Via Pivot Table Or Separate Table?

I highly recommend watching the Laracasts series on Eloquent relationships. It covers everything you'll need from one-to-one relationships right through to polymorphic many-to-many relationships.

https://laracasts.com/series/eloquent-relationships

As for the attribute on your invoice model, you can append 'Attribute' to a function name on your model

public function totalCostAttribute()
{
	// Calculate and return total invoice cost
}

Then in your blade template, you can use:

$invoice->total_cost

Replied to Select Box Does Not Update V-model

@thugic the beforeRouteEnter is a method to fetch data described in the vue router documentation.

https://router.vuejs.org/guide/advanced/data-fetching.html#fetching-before-navigation

Replied to Select Box Does Not Update V-model

Your data structure is all messed up. In your v-for loop, you're looping through your item.values as an item. I can't imagine the item returned from your api has item.values.title and item.values.value. Does your api response return a single object or multiple objects?

Replied to Validate CSRF Token On API Controller For SPA

If you aren't authorising users you could just put the POST route for your contact form inside the web routes file, it will then be protected by the CSRF middleware.

Replied to Laravel Airlock SPA Authentication = 419 Error

Hey, @rn-code your suspicions are correct. Setting cookies on localhost is problematic. Change your domain.

Replied to Vue And VueRouter Using Laravel As A Backend

I've only ever seen it in screencasts and tutorials and never in any documentation. It's just a wildcard (catch-all) route that Laravel will flick through for VueRouter to handle.

Replied to Testing Airlock Login ?

The '/airlock/csrf-cookie' endpoint returns an empty response that triggers the storage of a CSRF cookie in the browser.

Awarded Best Reply on Why Does Laravel Use -> Instead Of Just A Dot?

The object operator -> is a PHP thing which is what Laravel is written in. The arrow operator -> exists in C/C++ too, it's used to access the members of the structure or the unions using pointers.

Replied to Handling A Change Of User Email

@sinnbeck yeah you're correct, I didn't think of that.

What about following a similar approach to a user resetting their password.

  1. The user requests to change their email
  2. Email sent to the user with a link to change their email address with an included token
  3. User updates their email with a valid token
  4. Verification email sent to the new email address
  5. The user verifies ownership of the new email address
  6. Update the email in the database

Replied to Handling A Change Of User Email

When the user changes their email just set the 'email_verified_at' column on your users table to null. They will then have to re-verify their email address.

Replied to API Authentication And Airlock/Passport

What results do you get with a simple route?

Route::middleware('auth:api')->get('/user', function (Request $request) {
    return $request->user();
});

Do you have the relevant meta tag in your template?

<meta name="csrf-token" content="{{ csrf_token() }}">

How is your endpoint protected?

Replied to API Authentication And Airlock/Passport

If neither of your Apps are SPA's and you're authenticating your users via the session I'd use Laravel/Passport.

https://laravel.com/docs/5.8/passport#consuming-your-api-with-javascript

It has a web middleware (CreateFreshApiToken) that automagically attaches a JWT token to all responses that Passport will use to authenticate API requests from your Vue components.

Replied to Fetching Data - Best Practice (Laravel/Vuex)

Thanks, @mathiasonea basically store (vuex) things that aren't going to change like user settings/permissions where if another user creates a new post or comment you want to see that updated for all users. Makes sense.
