Started a new Conversation Laravel PHPUnit Tests Running VERY Slow On Apple Silicon?

I recently bought one of the new M1 Macbooks. On my old Intel macbook, if I run a basic unit test, it finishes almost instantly, milliseconds at most.

    public function an_article_belongs_to_a_user()
    {
        $article = Article::factory()->create();

        $this->assertInstanceOf(User::class, $article->user);
    }

On the m1 Macbook, exactly the same test, 1.23seconds. I know this sounds meaningless but when I've got over 700 tests the extra time adds up very quickly.

I have absolutely no idea what is causing this. I'm running Brew 3 (the apple silicon supported one), I'm not running it through Rosetta, and I'm using PHP 7.4 (Not 8).

Also not even really sure where to start in terms of debugging this, since I have absolutely no idea what is even causing this slow down.

Started a new Conversation Mac - ImageMagick Not Working

I'm running a mac with an M1 chip. I'm running php 7.4, and im using valet.

When installing imagick, e.g;

brew install imagemagick
pecl install imagick

It installs successfully and puts the extension in the correct place. The ini file is correct, and phpinfo() shows imagick as loaded.

Yet when I try to use it in my application, I get this error; "ImageMagick module not available with this PHP installation"

I've tried valet restart, I've tried reinstalling valet/php/nginx/everything, and this issue still occurs. Someone elsewhere on the internet suggested upgrading to php 8, but I can't at the moment because certain dependencies I have haven't been updated to support it.

Hopefully someone can help me out here, because I'm sort of not really sure what else to try. Not really sure if there is a way I can perhaps install an older version of imagemagick via brew for php 7 rather than 8 or something?

Thanks!
