Started a new Conversation What Hosting And Method You Used For Laravel Development?

Hi,

What hosting do you prefer to use for our Laravel apps? and how do you develop, do you develop it completely online or move it online once you're all finished?

Thanks!

Replied to URL Not Working With Double Slashes

I figured it out. Seems to be a Laragon problem.

Started a new Conversation URL Not Working With Double Slashes

Hi, I've yet another noobish question. I'm making an app. I'm running in to possibly a routing issue

example.com/test

this url works as it should but

example.com//test

this doesn't work and due to the context of my app, the route should be visible with double slashes too, I feel like this could be an htaccess issue but nothing I tried seem to work.

I tried adding double slashes in get request in route as well, tried wildcard, but nothing seem to work for me. Any help would be appreciated highly!

Replied to Sending POST Request For Script Tag (Laravel Shopify Repo)

Nevermind! I update my code like this

https://prnt.sc/t724kr It worked now :)

Activity icon

Started a new Conversation Sending POST Request For Script Tag (Laravel Shopify Repo)

This code is only suppose to be for testing purpose

Route::post('/submit', function() {

$shop = Auth::user();

$themes = $shop->api()->rest('GET', '/admin/script_tags.json');
// get active theme id

$snippet = "http://d0e446bad503.ngrok.io/js/main.js";

// Data to pass to our rest api request
$array = array('script_tag' => array('event' => 'onload', 'src' => $snippet));

$shop->api()->rest('POST', '/admin/api/2020-04/script_tags.json', $array);

return ['message' => 'Theme setup succesfully'];

});

});

I am trying to send a script tag to my shopify store, I've made the app, installed and when I click submit button, I get the "Theme setup sucessfully" message but no script tag gets embedded. I would appreciate any help.

I know I should post it on their repo, I just thought to give it a go here first :) I like this community a lot.

Replied to Confused About One Thing In Laravel From Scratch, Ep58

Thanks, man. Turns out I understand both things, I was just confused because of the manner they were used in :)

Cheers

Replied to Confused About One Thing In Laravel From Scratch, Ep58

Thanks. So the follow (not follows) method could've been done in a controller too, right? It doesn't necessarily have to be in model?

Started a new Conversation Confused About One Thing In Laravel From Scratch, Ep58

I'm following that tutorial to build Tweety, been following along, in Ep58, he makes the Follows and follow function, which I did too and it works but I'm confused how it works.

That's the code he uses in user model

public function follow(User $user) { return $this->follows()->save($user); }

public function follows() { return $this->belongsToMany(User::class, 'follows', 'user_id', 'folowing_user_id'); }

I know how the follows method work but completely lost at Follow method. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Replied to Control Javascript Values/functions From Laravel Admin Panel

I'm no expert with JS but this makes perfect sense! Time to do some tests :) I'll report back how it goes. Thank you so much.

Activity icon

Replied to Control Javascript Values/functions From Laravel Admin Panel

I tried posting on Stackoverflow too, didn't got a reply, retrying here with a bit more explaination

I'm creating a web app using Laravel. I'm a beginner and seem to be stuck at one thing.

Suppose I have 3 JS functions

function func1() { }

function func2() { }

function func3() { }

Now, I want 3 checkboxes in my laravel admin settings,

Like Checkbox 1 = Enable func 1, Checkbox2 = enable func 3

I want these 3 functions in same js file but depending on the checkbox state in my laravel admin, they should (or shouldn't) execute.

I hope this make sense.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Replied to Control Javascript Values/functions From Laravel Admin Panel

Both of these replies are very helpful. Thank you. I've a small follow up question.

Like I have 2 check boxes in my laravel admin panel,

like "Activate function 1" "Activate function 2"

Function 1:

$("p").append("Some appended text.");

Function 2:

$("button").click(function(){ $("h1, h2, p").addClass("blue"); $("div").addClass("important"); });

I want these scripts to work only if checkbox is checked, and I want them to come from same Js files as I don't want to use separate files, so how will JS file work based on checkboxes stated in my laravel panel?

Thanks a lot!

Started a new Conversation Control Javascript Values/functions From Laravel Admin Panel

This seem like a weird question, most likely because I don't know how to put it.

Say like I have a js function that loads on click and simply gives an alert box

alert("Hello! I am an alert box!!");

Now, how can I have a form in my Laravel panel, like "Text" and what text I put there is what shows in the Alert box? How do I parse PHP's value into JS?

It's a newbie question, I know and very grateful for any assistance. Can't seem to find anything as I don't exactly know what to type.

Thanks!

Replied to How To Make Drag And Drop Sorting For Posts?

Thanks for the quick reply, Snapey. I did read up on it before that, is there any tutorial showing how to integrate it? I am not a pro or anything, still learning.

Is it possible to change the order of post, like we can create a custom column in table, for sorting id, and we can change it by dragging the post one over the other to change the sort id. I hope this make sense.

Thanks
