Started a new Conversation Opposite Of $this->merge() In Form Request

Hello!

I want to remove name input from validation according to the condition. How can I do this?

<?php

namespace App\Http\Requests;

use Illuminate\Foundation\Http\FormRequest;

class AccountRequest extends FormRequest
{
    /**
     * Determine if the user is authorized to make this request.
     *
     * @return bool
     */
    public function authorize()
    {
        return true;
    }

    /**
     * Prepare the data for validation.
     */
    protected function prepareForValidation()
    {
        if (auth()->user()->cannot('edit accounts name')) {
            // I want to remove name input from $request->validated()

            // I tried;
            $this->forget('name');
            $this->pull('name');
            unset($this->name);
        }
    }

    /**
     * Get the validation rules that apply to the request.
     *
     * @return array
     */
    public function rules()
    {
        return [
            'name' => 'nullable|min:3',
        ];
    }
}

Thanks

Hello! How can I deactivate global scope for authentication only?

I want to hide root type users from queries except authentication..

<?php

namespace App\Scopes;

use Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Builder;
use Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Model;
use Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Scope;

class UserScope implements Scope
{
    /**
     * Apply the scope to a given Eloquent query builder.
     *
     * @param  \Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Builder  $builder
     * @param  \Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Model  $model
     * @return void
     */
    public function apply(Builder $builder, Model $model)
    {
        $builder->where('type', '!=', 'root');
    }
}

Replied to Authorization For Custom Guard?

[SOLVED]

I found the solution by doing runtime config change.

config(['auth.defaults.guard' => 'admin']);

$this->authorize('update', $user);

I wish I would use $guard name as third parameter in $this->authorize() helper..

Replied to Authorization For Custom Guard?

This code worked for me.

$user = auth('admin')->user();

if ($user->can('update', $model)) {
    return true;
}

return false;

I wonder If I can do it with authorize() helper?

How can I use this policy helper method for custom guards?

$this->authorize('update', $model);
