Replied to Get Current User's Role

@automica it directly calls the particular role based on the role ID assigned to it

@automica Single role, but multiple permissions.

Replied to Get Current User's Role

@neilstee There's a separate table for roles. It must be mapped by a primary key.

Replied to Get Current User's Role

@jlrdw The problem is it isn't recognising 'Auth::user()->role' or 'auth()->user->role. I did dd(Auth::user()->role) and it displayed 'null'

Started a new Conversation Get Current User's Role

I want to check (in the VIEW) if the current user has a certain role before displaying something. I checked several laracasts solutions like:

  1. $user->attachRole($role);

  2. public function index() { $user = \Auth::user(); $name=$user->name; $roles = $user->getRoles(); return view('index', compact('name','roles')); }

  3. $user->roles

  4. $roles = $user->getRoleNames();

  5. $user->hasRole();

but nothing seems to work. What can I do for this?

I get the following kind of exception:

Facade\Ignition\Exceptions\ViewException Call to undefined method App\User::hasRole() (View:

OR

Facade\Ignition\Exceptions\ViewException Call to undefined method App\User::getRoleNames() (View:

etc.

Thanks in advance :)
