attila.kom left a reply on Can't Send Email From Serving

Thanks for the reply! I will try getting it to work using the mail facade soon and reply back here afterward.

Just out of curiosity, why do I "need" to use the mail facade instead? The mail function works fine on my websites hosted elsewhere, just on this current server there is an issue. What is different about the mail facade that will allow my emails to send?

attila.kom started a new conversation Can't Send Email From Serving

I have my .env file set up exactly like I was ask by the server admin. It looks similar to this:

MAIL_DRIVER=smtp MAIL_HOST=hs2.ca MAIL_PORT=587 MAIL_USERNAME=@*.com MAIL_PASSWORD= MAIL_ENCRYPTION=ssl

And my code for sending the email looks like this:

mail($to,$subject,$message, $headers); return response('Created', 201);

I'm simply using PHP's mail function, and then returning a 201 response after. I always get the 201 response, I'm assuming if the mail function failed, I would get an error, but I do not get any errors, and I do not see anything in the error logs.

What are some things I can try? I only have FTP access to some some files on the server, and would need to contact the server admin to change anything no laravel related.

attila.kom started a new conversation Running A Laravel App Locally On Mac (Laragon Alternatives?)

Hey everyone,

I've been running Laravel apps locally using Laragon on Windows, but Laragon is not available for Mac. I'm just curious what everyone else uses to run Laravel locally on their Macs.

attila.kom left a reply on 500 Error When Trying To Load Any View Besides The Home/index View.

Hey, so I actually changed the .htaccess to the following, and now it works:

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
        RewriteEngine On
        RewriteBase /

        # Removes index.php from ExpressionEngine URLs
        RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^GET.*index\.php [NC]
        RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !/system/.* [NC]
        RewriteRule (.*?)index\.php/*(.*) /$1$2 [R=301,NE,L]

        # Directs all EE web requests through the site index file
        RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
        RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
        RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L]
</IfModule>

Thanks for the replies everyone! I've been away for awhile so sorry for the delay in getting back. I'll get a chat with Bell again tomorrow. The version of PHP on the server is 5.6.23, and I noticed that the Laravel docs mention I need 5.6.4 or greater, so I'll have to ask Bell if they can update the version for me. I'll try to clear the cache too, just to be safe. And if I'm still having issues then I'll have to give Bell shit for telling me mod_rewrites was enabled (without even checking if it actually was).

@Snapey Index.php and .htaccess are in the public directory. Also, I'm a little confused, the 500 error is not from Laravel, but I'm still getting a 500 error (http://anomet.com/aluminum), so doesn't that mean that wrong PHP version and/or cache could be the culprit as well?

attila.kom left a reply on 500 Error When Trying To Load Any View Besides The Home/index View.

@Ibbe Thanks for the reply, unfortunately the answers there did not work :( no matter what I put in my .htaccess or where I put it, it doesn't help. Neither does renaming/ moving folders to different locations like mentioned in the answers. I'm starting to believe that mod_rewrite is not enabled like Bell told me it is...

attila.kom left a reply on 500 Error When Trying To Load Any View Besides The Home/index View.

@mushood So I called Bell (took forever to get through to a tech support person, and emailing them is absolutely useless) and he asked his supervisor who said mod_rewrites should already be enabled. I told him the symptoms I'm having suggest that it's not enabled, but there was basically nothing he could do :/ absolute shit support. I'll call them back later, I'm just wondering if there's anything else I could do...

I'll post an update once I hear back from Bell. I'll try that new route when I'm home again tomorrow and let you know if it works.

attila.kom left a reply on 500 Error When Trying To Load Any View Besides The Home/index View.

@mushood Thanks! The only problem is that I can't find a .conf file :/

attila.kom left a reply on 500 Error When Trying To Load Any View Besides The Home/index View.

@mushood error.jpg

And oh wow, using this pattern www.domain.com/index.php/urlName loads the pages... but it doesn't load some images. For example: http://anomet.com/index.php/lighting

Why does adding that index.php work?

attila.kom left a reply on 500 Error When Trying To Load Any View Besides The Home/index View.

@mushood I don't have access to the command line :( and I can't hit the /clear-cache route to run that block of code because I get the internal error if I try to navigate to any page/ route.

@acorbeil Okay, I'll look into how to activate it.

Thanks for the responses so far guys!

I just tried replacing the .htaccess file with what you linked, it didn't fix the problem :(

attila.kom started a new conversation 500 Error When Trying To Load Any View Besides The Home/index View.

Hey everyone. So I uploaded a Laravel website on a Namecheap server here: https://kdev.solutions/ and it works fine. I uploaded again (essentially the exact same files, except for some minor changes like setting APP_URL for the new domain, etc.) to another Bell server here: http://anomet.com/ and now I get an "Internal Server Error" whenever I try to navigate to a different page. Not sure how I could go about fixing this problem.

Server logs are empty :(

attila.kom left a reply on Getting Mixed Content Error When Viewing Website Over HTTPS

Cronix, thank you for your answer! I added the code to the boot method and changed the APP_URL, however when I redirected all HTTP to HTTPS by modifying the .htaccess file I was getting an error in my browser ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS so I didn't change that, but it still works now with the other suggestions!

attila.kom left a reply on Getting Mixed Content Error When Viewing Website Over HTTPS

Hey Cronix, thanks for the reply. How would I change this? For example, I am referencing stylesheets using blade statements. i.e.

<link rel="stylesheet" href="{{ asset('vendor/bootstrap/css/bootstrap.min.css') }}">

attila.kom started a new conversation Getting Mixed Content Error When Viewing Website Over HTTPS

If you follow this link: http://boiling-temple-56134.herokuapp.com/ The website appears fine.

When you follow this link: https://boiling-temple-56134.herokuapp.com/ The css and js files aren't loaded and I'm given a mixed content error.

How would I fix this?

Yes I've set the APP_KEY environment variable. I ran the following:

Running bash on boiling-temple-56134... up, run.7264 (Free)
~ $ php artisan key:generate
Application key [base64:T5gf1onD4Z1GcKcg7AT/q9YWQ1pI8I8dQZSFSJBrNBs=] set successfully.
~ $ php artisan config:clear
Configuration cache cleared!

I am still getting the same error.

attila.kom left a reply on "Whoops, Looks Like Something Went Wrong." When Pushing To Heroku

Hey tykus, sorry about the log file, I don't know where else to look for error message, in the Heroku logs I only get this:

2017-03-08T23:34:03.881840+00:00 app[web.1]: 10.43.185.17 - - [08/Mar/2017:23:34:03 +0000] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 500 4159 "https://dashboard.heroku.com/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/56.0.2924.87 Safari/537.36

I followed this guide here to set up my Heroku app: https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/getting-started-with-laravel

The only thing I changed in the .env file was the APP_KEY property. I also created a Profile as per guide instructions.

attila.kom left a reply on "Whoops, Looks Like Something Went Wrong." When Pushing To Heroku

Hey tykus, thanks for your help so far, I really appreciate it. Line 9 contains this:

<link rel="manifest" href="/manifest.json">

I've uploaded that entire specific php file to the repo as well: https://github.com/Twinbird24/project_004/blob/master/storage/framework/views/361f745536af0d9cf601481d2fd22878cd7c88e4.php

attila.kom left a reply on "Whoops, Looks Like Something Went Wrong." When Pushing To Heroku

I have a master.blade.php that has just this:

@include('../includes.header')

@yield('content')

@include('../includes.footer')

And the header has things like this:

<title>@yield('title')</title>

I created a GitHub repo and pushed all the code to it, so you can view it here if you want: https://github.com/Twinbird24/project_004

attila.kom started a new conversation "Whoops, Looks Like Something Went Wrong." When Pushing To Heroku

I have my Laravel (v. 5.4.15) app running successfully locally on Laragon (with nginx) here on my Windows machine (I'm using . I followed the Heroku docs (https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/getting-started-with-laravel) to try to set it up on Heroku, but I'm left with this: https://boiling-temple-56134.herokuapp.com/. Which just gives me the "Whoops, looks like something went wrong" error message. When I look into storage > logs > laravel.log I notice this error:

[2017-02-17 17:28:45] local.ERROR: Symfony\Component\Debug\Exception\FatalErrorException: The "yield" expression can only be used inside a function in C:\laragon\www\anomet\storage\framework\views\361f745536af0d9cf601481d2fd22878cd7c88e4.php:9 Stack trace: #0 {main}

Not sure what to make of it, I don't see anything wrong with my use of yield in my app. I have things like @yield('title').
