Replied to Doubt On How To Define Model For Team-Athletes-Sports Relationsships

@martinbean i did all and it almost work.

Starting from athlete view i can retrieve all athletes, with each company they play in and sport_id from the pivot table.

Now, sport_id is the link to access to the sport table where i have the name of the sport. I tried and retried a lot of tutorials but I understood i'm doing something wrong because i cannot find a way to access to the name of the sport.

Into Athlete Controller, for index function I do:

$athlete = Athlete::with('teams')->get()

The teams function is the same you suggested to me before, with withPivot .

Do you have a suggestion?

Thanks

Replied to Doubt On How To Define Model For Team-Athletes-Sports Relationsships

Thanks for suggestion. i've already tried some models and no one worked as hoped. That's why i asked here after 1 month of try. I also searched for examples online but all of them provide standard models for that type of relationship while my situation, as you see above, foresees (according to my idea) a non-standard model linked to the type of subjects involved.

Replied to Doubt On How To Define Model For Team-Athletes-Sports Relationsships

@martinbean @mstrauss unfortunately no. A team can play more sports with more athetes.

I think the keystone here is: an athlete can play a specific sport only for a specific team.

John cannot play soccer with team A and also team B.

So i suppose this model should be good

Thanks @martinbean . Will I also be able to see, starting from the team view, which athletes play for it and in which sports?

Started a new Conversation Doubt On How To Define Model For Team-Athletes-Sports Relationsships

Hello i'm trying to define a good Model to manage Teams, athletes and practiced sports. Here is the situation: One team can have multiple athletes and an athlete can play in different teams. So i setup a Many to Many relationship

An athlete can play different sports and a sport can be played by different athletes. So i setup a Many to Many relationship

This was easy.

Now the doubt:

Andrew plays soccer for the "A" Team

Andrew plays tennis for the "B" Team

John plays soccer for the "A" Team

John plays basket for the "C" Team

With the first relationships i'm not able to understand what team Andrew play soccer with.

So , can you help me on how defining the relationship between tables to manage that type of information? I am also available to modify the first three relationships between Team Sports Athletes tables

thanks regards

Simon
